Abstract

Due to the changes and developments of the conditions of existing buildings, need for adaptability arises in order to maintain the structural, functional and economical value of the buildings. In this respect, investors, designers, constructors and users require a new method to support the re-design and re-construction decisions to adapt the buildings to the new conditions. In light of these findings, taking the relationship between the change requests and the current capacity’s offer as the starting point, and in order to provide decision support for the purpose of the re-use of buildings during the design and construction phases, the necessity to elicit the capacity of adaptability quantitatively, in a systematic and rational method is defined as the problematic of this study.
