Abstract

In this study, the effect of language, as an expression tool to inform thoughts and feelings, on the objects we qualify in our daily lives, to be more specific, the process of conversion of human actions is analyzed through contemporary period furniture. In the analysis, it is aimed in this interdisciplinary relationship to emphasize the power of language, a concept or an action in the perceptual change in the process of characterizing the furniture. More specifically, it is aimed to examine, that the usual words or phrases in the life routine do not actually name an equipment randomly and the fact that to be called by a name takes a certain period and in this period the discourse and phrases formed with language-equipment interaction, through contemporary period furniture. The relation between the concepts of language, discourse and action and discourse and action on furniture are revealed in this study. The furniture that constituted the sampling area is associated with the classification of the discourse; Semiotic expressions of contemporary period furniture have been determined.This furniture examined in detail in the sections of findings and explanations.
