Abstract

The article focuses on Prof. Muammer Onat as a “professor-educator”, putting his own impressions about his ideal professors at the center. Furthermore, his working style as an academician as a clear reflection of his character as an educator is researched. His not yet published studies on three of his professors, namely Mehmet Ali Handan, Arif Hikmet Holtay and Halit Femir, who were fascinated him during his education and academic life, are used as source of the article. It consists two parts. First part deals with the questions why and how Prof. Muammer Onat has made these studies. Second part focuses on the interpretations and impressions of Prof. Muammer Onat about the “teaching styles” of his own professors. The article tries to constitute interrelations between these three studies, mostly using quotations in order Prof. Muammer Onat’s voice to be heard.
