Antalya’da 1980 Sonrası Yaşanan Dönüşümün Kıyıdaki İzdüşümleri*

Abstract

The developments during and after 1980, which represents the starting of drastic breaks in all areas of social, political, ideological and economic life, have brought together multi-dimensional transformations both in the lives of people and also the urban space that is the counterpart in social life. The number of studies that have researched the changes and transformations caused by the developments at global scale on society and space is quite few not only for metropolitans but also for medium scale cities. In the light of all these thoughts, the study was initiated to answer the question “How do the different localities react against the impositions of the global processes and capitalist economic systems and how do the social, cultural and economic interactions create urban spatializations?.” Accordingly, the Lara Shore Line that is located in the province Antalya was selected as the city determined its urbanization process in line with the internal dynamics articulated into the global network independent of the national system within theframe of local dynamics starting from 1980. In-depth interviews were made with persons that witnessed the transformation of the Lara Shore Line in order to obtain data and the information obtained during the interviews was supported with archive research..
