Evrensel Tasarım Yaklaşımı Bayburt Üniversitesi Yerleşkesi Örneği

Abstract

Universal design approach aims to design products and environments that provide equal access for everyone. Universal design applications can be seen frequently in the last years. The main aim of this study is to introduce and explain this approach and its different ways of application. While doing this, the Bayburt University was chosen as the case, in order to demonstrate how the universal design approach can be involved to the design process. During the research the reflections of the seven principles of universal design were analyzed through entrances/exits, circulation systems, wayfinding and public areas. One of the faculty buildings of the university, i.e, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, some design applications related to concepts of the universal design such as accessibility and adaptability were observed to be reflected to the space organization. In that sense, some suggestions and enhancements were brought out to make these applications more prevalent.
